The Music Industry For this exam you will need to write for 45 minutes about your understanding of the issues surrounding the Music Industry. Each week we will investigate one the topics listed below. In your exam essay you will be expected to write paragraphs about each and relate them to the question. This is a research module which means you will need to find examples independently to explain the points listed below - although some will be given in class. 1. THE WAYS IN WHICH CANDIDATES’ OWN EXPERIENCES OF MEDIA CONSUMPTION ILLUSTRATE WIDER PATTERNS AND TRENDS OF AUDIENCE BEHAVIOUR. 2. THE ISSUES RAISED IN THE TARGETING OF NATIONAL AND LOCAL AUDIENCES (SPECIFICALLY BRITISH) BY INTERNATIONAL AND GLOBAL INSTITUTIONS. 3. THE ISSUES RAISED BY MEDIA OWNERSHIP IN CONTEMPORARY PRACTICE 4. THE IMPORTANCE OF CROSS MEDIA CONVERGENCE AND SYNERGY, IN PRODUCTION, DISTRIBUTION AND MARKETING. 5. THE TECHNOLOGIES THAT HAVE BEEN INTRODUCED IN RECENT YEARS AT THE LEVELS OF PRODUCTION, MARKETING AND EXCHANGE. 6. THE SIGNIFICANCE OF PROLIFERATION IN HARDWARE AND CONTENT FOR INSTITUTIONS AND AUDIENCES Task One: Identify any words you do not know from the list above.
