Audience & Institution Research Task B and A gradesAudience & Institution Research Task
Specific Audience
Your magazine must be made for a specific audience. It can’t be made for ‘everyone’
You need to think about different audiences and what kind of content might be in the magazine
There are always exceptions – boys sometimes read girls’ magazines, but the mag will still be targeted at teenage girls
You might want to make a magazine for an audience type that aren’t already targeted
Your Magazine
•Think about the genre of magazine that you might like to make and the target audience.
•Research the range of titles currently published for your target audience
•If you are targeting an audience that is not already targeted, research the closest type of mags and suggest reasons as to why no-one has targeted your audience
Research Areas
•What magazines are there already for your target audience? Produce a collage of front covers
•Which companies produce these magazines?
•How many people buy them?
•Are circulation figures for these magazines going up or down? (circulation figures = the number of people who read the magazine)
